Check if you are eligible for a government job

Every exam measures your age on a different date, and most rejections come from using the wrong one. Fill this in and you will see which of the 13 exams covered here accept you, each judged on the reckoning date printed in its own notification. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Use the date printed on your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch between this and your marksheet is one of the most common reasons applications get rejected.

Only affects height and chest standards. Chest is measured for men only.

Why the age limit changes with the exam

A notification does not ask for your present age. It fixes a date, usually called the crucial date or the age reckoning date, and measures you on that day. SSC and UPSC use 1 August of the recruitment year, railway boards use 1 January, IBPS used 1 July for Probationary Officer and SBI used 1 April. For someone born in late July those choices do not agree, and picking the wrong one is the most common reason an eligible candidate is rejected at document verification.

On top of that, upper-age relaxation is added by category: OBC gets 3 years, SC and ST get 5, and a candidate with a benchmark disability gets 10 years, rising to 13 with OBC and 15 with SC or ST. The minimum age is never reduced. Those figures only count if the matching certificate is produced at document verification, in the format the conducting body accepts.

Exams covered

Each entry is checked against the reckoning date and limits in its most recent notification. Where a notice publishes a fixed date-of-birth window instead of an age range, that window is used instead.

Conducting bodies covered: Staff Selection Commission, Staff Selection Commission / CAPFs, Union Public Service Commission, Railway Recruitment Boards, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, State Bank of India, UPSC, Indian Army, Railway Recruitment Boards / SSC.

Before you rely on any result

Clearing an age limit is only the first filter. Attempts already used, physical standards where the post has them, medical fitness and subject-specific degree requirements all sit behind it, and none of that is decided here. Read the original notification on the conducting body’s website before you apply, because it always supersedes whatever is written on this page.
